For those that have received a ticket and are confused as to what to do or which class to take, here is a brief explanation of the typical procedure to help get the ticket dismissed.

First, you want to make sure that you contact the county clerk to ensure you are eligible to take a traffic course.  If you have not taken a 4-hour traffic school within a one year period then you should be eligible for the class.  We call this “Student Elected” because you are taking it at your own will.

You are also eligible for the course if a county is obligating you to take the class.  This is what is called “Court Ordered.”  This is still the same class, but the reason you are taking the class is that you are being told by a county to take the class.

There also those that are required by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle to take the course.  Again, this is the same 4-hour class, except the reason for taking the class is different from the other two; this is what is normally called Traffic Collision Avoidance Course.
