Drivers know that keeping points off their driving record is important.  When a driver receives too many tickets within a certain amount of time, they risk getting accruing too many points and possibly having their license suspended.  For this reason, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle (FLHSMV) has created programs to help motorists have certain citations dismissed and not accumulate on a driving record.

What is this course about?  This course teaches defensive driving skills and the class is called a 4 Hour BDI course.  The course is meant to teach students information about driving with a focus on the road.  They are also taught the importance of road signs and how to drive under certain road conditions.  These courses are a great benefit to most drivers that have not had a refresher course on driving techniques but have been a driver for a few years or even decades.

Furthermore, there aren’t too many drivers that review traffic laws or revisions to a law.  This course is a great way to update those on the roads of new traffic laws.  New laws involve technology, for example, cellphone laws.  Florida has restrictions on cell phones and many drivers ignore them or have no idea there are restrictions on cellphone use while driving.

To take the course a resident must simply be eligible to take the class and that can simply be accomplished by notifying the county clerk.  Those that select to take the course are given 60 to 90 days to complete the course and must notify the Taylor County Clerk once the course is completed.  If the course is not completed within the given time the resident may face additional fines and the suspension of the license.  For more information on the course or additional questions, please contact us.
