Aggressive Driving; It’s Not Worth It

Do you or anybody you know honk the horn a lot when driving? Tailgate or flash their headlights at the driver that’s ahead? Always running red lights or driving over the speed limit? Even, someone who always seems to be in a hurry? The above mentioned are a few signs of aggressive driving which you or somebody you may know has experienced while driving.

Aggressive driving is a very serious matter since it not only affects the driver; it also distresses every driver and vehicle passenger in the surrounding areas. As a driver, you must realize the responsibility that you are not only driving for yourself, but for many others as well. There are some ways to prevent from being an aggressive driver. Avoiding conflict; YES, we all know it’s a hard task, but it saves the misfortune of yourself and others. Don’t drive behind another vehicle with your high beams on or tailgate them. We all know people are going to do stuff like that, however, it messes up the visibility of their blind spot, and the other driver may need to make a quick stop, which leaves you slamming on your brakes. The best plan of action; always be polite while on the roadways, regardless if another driver has done something to upset you. Refrain from using rude gestures or giving verbal insults because it is not going to make the situation better. Leaving a few moments earlier than usual provides extra time, and reduces the urge and chances of speeding. Every driver should increase their chances of getting to their desired destination in a safe and timely manner with the simple step of leaving earlier.

It is against Florida law to be an aggressive driver; you could get a fine of up to $200 and may spend time in jail. Think about it, getting pulled over and getting a ticket messes up your day so it’s not worth it. When you have to go before a judge you could receive a license suspension or even have points added to your driving record, which leads to hefty surcharge fines.

Major cities in Texas have launched a “Drive Cool” campaign which implements undercover officers driving in unmarked police unit vehicles to initiate traffic stops to those who have been spotted behaving aggressively behind the wheel. During each traffic stop, the uniformed officer will educate the driver of expected dangers when driving combatively.

If you feel aggravated when driving, or become involved with another threatening motorist it is always best to pull off the roadway to assure the safety of yourself and other motorists.

Very effective course. Although I don't text and drive, the video (I believe sponsored by AT&T) was incredibly impactful. Also the stories about the individuals who lost their lives due to accidents, alcohol, texts, etc.. were extremely important and impactful.

When it spoke about things that could cause a person to be distracted by driving, applying makeup and holding a phone while talking on it were not included. I see these two things being done by drivers almost daily.

I feel that the information and how it was presented (like only reading what was on the board) was a bit distracting and that there are more effective ways of having people retain info.

I didn't find anything in this course to be funny or amusing. If I were to choose again I would pick a normal education course. I didn't like the long videos. I don't need to be dragged through other peoples tragedies.
